    Jbl 2404h Help

hello,I bought what i thought were a pair of JBL 2404H's on ebay, after receiving and inspecting them,i have serious doubts of their authenticity and the seller is claiming they are authentic and were removed from a JBL 4850 speaker.
Informed opinions would be appreciated,as he is refusing refund,i've done many searches and these do not look like ant 2404H's i've seen, also, the horn is aluminum, not plastic.

I am looking at a pair of 2404's staring at me from my desk (Texas headphones) and from the front they look exactly like a 2404, the connectors look JBL standard but the orientation is different. The rear cover looks more like the covers on the back of my Altec stuff.

If you didn't pay a premium for them I might be willing to buy them from you out of sheer curiosity if you don't want them.

    Have you tested them?

I am pretty sure those are not JBL 2404 baby butt cheeks.

Monocor... not too surprising that they are no longer in the current product
list... probably got thumped for plagiarism.

I'm not familiar with the company tie, but they (Monacor, Monarch) appear
to be related or use region-specific branding.

Monacor is a German company, selling far east products, some products are cheap crap, some are good stuff.
Some products are made exclusively for Monacor (Monarch) and they are good.
Input QC is good (been there in Monacor HQ, Hamburg myself once) so even if the product is cheap/crap, it will have controlled repeatable crappy specifications.

If the product is made for Monacor, it is good, and I think Your MHD 200 are ok (never heard them).
However they are not ring radiators, but normal inverted dome compression drivers on a 2404h style horn
(not direct copies of 2404, maybe just horn).
If You are not interested, I will buy them for a reasonable price.

Hey, IPlayLoud. Do you have a link to the original eBay ad?

I took another glance on Your photos. They do not seem identical to MHD200 photo posted later in this thread (???)...

Another style of teminals, plastic back cap, non-identical back cap shape...

Is it a copy of the MHD200 ? Copy of a copy?? This looks more and more interesting...

Lee, i just noticed that the thread is old. You'll not find the original ebay link any more. But I found this link to illustrate the MHD-200

It would have been interesting to know who the seller was, just so that we don't buy from this unscrupulous seller. If the tweeter was advertized as being a JBL 2404, then it is obviously a fraud.

    Aha, makes sense.

I thought the reason for wanting the link was just curiosity about MHD200.

True, it was mis-advertised, but now IPlayLoud has two potential buyers for them. Not all is lost...

How do you report listings like this? There is no way to do it that I can figure out from using the drop down menu system. Same for reporting stolen goods; you have to be a cop, literally, to report an item as stolen. It seems ebay turns a blind eye to bogus and stolen listings.
