    Altec cabinets!

Do you want dimensions, and internal measurements of cabinets like Altec 816,s, 815,s, and 817A,s?

JBL L100/L100A Century (without grille installed):

23.5"H x 14.25"W x 11.5"D externally. Internal dimensions are 22"H x 12.75"W x 9.5"D. Rear panel recessed 1/4". Just measured BOTH an original L100 (un-ducted vent on front panel, with LE20) and an L100A (ducted vent with right-angle, with the LE25), and they were identical.

    Ports/Vents:

L100 (early model): 2" diameter vent, no duct (1" length, thickness of front baffle board)

L100A (late model): 3" diameter vent, ~8" long (through center of right angle bend).

    JBL L80T:

    32.5"H (not including pedestal) x 14W x 11.875" deep external.

    31" x 12.5" x 10.375" ID's

    Pedestal 1.5" tall, 12.5W x 10.5"D (centered on bottom).

    Port: 3" diameter, 4.25" long.

Would these posts be better placed in the underutilized "Technical Info" forum instead of here in "Technical Help"? And possibly be posted in threads titled by model numbers, instead of searching through one long "cabinet size" thread here? Maybe to include other pertinent model info as well, such as all the various drawings that have been posted by some of the builders here? Heck, even component and crossover info would be great, unless that duplicates library info too much. But at least it would all be in one place, (for each model/thread).

    Just an idea...

Eventually yes. This is an information gathering thread only and will eventually get whacked. Notice this thread is a "sticky".

Ok, it looks like that Techbot just restructured some network info after reading your suggestion.

    Hi Giskard,

when back from my USA trip in november, I will send you the drawings of the Altec Valencia cab.
I think it's time to catalogue all drawings in a special lib.

    enclosure materials - L100A

Hope I'm posting this in the right part of the forums - if not someone can yell at me, and I'm sure they will...
Does anyone know offhand what the L100 boxes are made from - is it chipboard with veneer or is it some kind of plywood? And the damping material inside?
