Question Which speakers for my office?

Hello guys, I'm a hifi noobie from Hong Kong.

I have recently renovated my room (meeting + showroom), and want to get a pair of used speakers for daily usage. I will be primary listening to Jazz.

Here are the photos of my room:

As you can see, there are plenty of empty space left in the room, and thus speaker size is not really a concern.

I have heard of Altec and JBL for a long time, and seems their horn speakers are very efficient (90db+) and works great with tube amps. Can you guys recommend a pair of speakers for my room? I am able to access used ones at reasonable prices. Staging (deepness?) is my primary concern.

    Many thanks!

I'm afraid that only big 15' and above type JBL could satisfy you.

    Thanks Martin!

Since this will be my first pair of JBL vintage, I would like to keep the cost low this time; i will treat this as an experiment rather than a long term investment.

    how about some JBL 4612OK?

OH,my god,I'm looking for this little babys for a long time. catch them ASAP.
you konw i'm a 46 series lover,46 can give you something more than you expected
but 4612B is too small for your big show room,go to find 4628B plus sub.it's cheap, should be 4000-6000 HK$.
By the way,can you find more 4612? it's convenient for me to go to HK.

Well I use a pair of 4208's on my computer desktop. I have a 12" subwoofer under my desk. They are quite good for there size and it's a fun low cost system. I use an Ipod as a source and a pair of Urei 6211 amplifiers to power them.

    Martin, please check PM.

Robh3606, I not going to use them on my desk-top, instead, I will place them on the floor, as both a decoration (art? ) and use it as a music source that can fill up my room. thanks of the suggestion tho. I will keep it in mind.

4612's are great speakers. I have a pair in my shop, you will need a good sub (B380 or two) they suck below 60hz. They are not a speaker you could listen to all day, but they will play loud enough to make your ears hurt. If you are looking for that variant what about a pair of 4430's. My office is 18x14 with a pair of l20t's and a sub from a l212 system, it is on all day every day. Ps. Before that I used a pair of l110's with no sub but that would be to small for you.
Well why not it's just one more pair...
4340's and 250ti's what an odd pair...

Your big show room need big JBL indeed,I think 4430,4435 maybe suitable, and not that expensive.
Some big JBL movie speakers more valueable such as 4638,4648,but i'm afraid that it's hard for you to control them.
so pay special attention to 43,44,45,46,47,48,48 when meet it

In that space, 4430 pair plus a sub. The 4430 will look sweet in there, but will need some help on the low end to fill the room. It would help to raise them off the floor a few inches.
    Out.

I think the 4428 series would look smartly pleasing in sound and cosmetic appearance accompanied with x4 JBL 4645C subs, with that you’ll have the girls sitting on your lap. The office will move.

Well you’re room is the size of small digital JBL auditorium! It needs JBL large professional cinema PA!

What you want is the Godzilla of JBL sound you have to go with the BIG JBL Screen Array 3-way with x20 JBL 4645C don’t compromise with anything less, smaller, equal it!

LOL in the bedroom sleeping on his, new fleece bed why?

Otherwise he’s below on the signature in outer space.

I know what you mean by the avatar I thought I’d make him invisible on the avatar. can you see him?

Well turbogti has a lot of office space! I wouldn’t mind a room like that.

It has to be at least 30 feet long 40 the very least by 17 feet wide by 8 feet high.

    oh,cat first,JBL second,i understand you
Big 4645 in turbogti's show room maybe sound impressive, but the appearance can hardly be accepted for normal visitors
BTW,is there still any 4645 with original 2245?
