    2203 rebuild

Hey all. I posted this in DIY by mistake. Nothing like double exposure here anyway, right? Anybody know where to set the coil height in the gap for gluing the spider? Thanks again.

I have a 121A re-cone kit. Same frame and VC The gap between the coil top and the spider edge is 1/8" to 3/16". It may be a "bad" kit with the spider height not even. If you set the former to slightly crown the cone it's closer to the 3/16" or shoot for the middle. You should be able to tell with a dry fit.

If you have H's not sure it's the same with a ferrite frame.

    Good Luck!

Thanks Rob. Yea that kit could be problematic with the spider off kilter. You'll need to clamp it somehow before gluing to see if it rubs. The same kit would fit either the A or the H I would think?

Yes I didn't check this before but looking at the compatibility kit list it should be the same.

Hi Rob. I'm a bit of a procrastinator when it comes to dealing with stuff I'm not currently using. I have a pair of nos oem kits whose foams are rotted away. I may just throw those in instead but I hate to discard a good cone that's salvageable. Somebody used hot glue to install a rubber surround on it and made a mess. I need to figure out a way to get it off without destroying it. Heat with a soldering iron is the logical method I suppose. I think a heat gun might be dangerous?

Denatured alcohol will make most hot glues release without making a mess. Take a syringe or squeeze bottle with a small tip and apply a small bead of alcohol along the edge of the hot glue.
