Diaphragm Beryllium

Can beryllium diaphragm be installed in old JBL compression drivers?

I was hoping to install beryllium in the 2450 and 2426. The 2426 are used on the 4435. Hoping to extend the high frequency range. 2450 are use on a 2 way system.

I think JBL only has beryllium in the 2435 drivers and those are 3" voicecoils that do not fit the 2426 driver which has a 1.75" voicecoil.

And you have to be sure voicecoil depth etc match.

Furthermore, I you change a diaphragm you need to check out consequences for the crossover and I don't think the 4435 needs improving.

Yes.

JBL does not make or sell them. (Except for the 3" diaphragm for the 435Be and the 2435.) They must be purchased from an after market supplier. There are some apparently coming out of Asia... I am not sure how good their QC is.

I was trying to track some Be diaphragms down for a fellow forum member and then got distracted and dropped the ball. I have a friend that uses them in old 375 drivers and I know Westlake used them in the 2441s and 2425s that Ken has.

I personally like the ability to get beryllium diaphragms with my awning order.

I think someone posted that link before... take a look at those diaphragms... they've not only copied JBL's diamond surround but even the ribbing of JBL's titanium diaphragms.
