    Question 4425 & 4425mk2

    Dear all,

I'm a new comer from Hongkong. I'm planning to have a pair of 4425 to match with my Mcintosh MC225 Power Amp. Someone has offered a 4425MK2 to me. I'm considering it. But I just can't find any info about the 4425 MK2 on web. Somebody said MK2 doesn't deliver traditional JBL sound and 4425 original is much better. Is that true? What's the different between them??

Any one has the similiar setup (old McIntish + JBL)? Is it a good matching?

    Thanks!

    Rick

    Hello,
Sound difference between 4425 and 4425mk2 ?? I know not.
The 4425mk2 is'nt no imported in Europe (Asian market only?).

    4425 mk2 : woofer 1200H
    Horn 333266-001/ 333266-002
    compression driver 175nd
    Different driver, different network......

    JBL sound

    Thanks herve M,

I think I'd go for the original 4425 since it received good feedback from lots of JBL user. This will be my first touch with JBL and I hope to exprience the traditional JBL sound. Of cause the 4425 is not the best JBL. But my budget is limited and I guess my MC225 only could handle the woofer unit up to 12" size.

THE 4425 is the unique "untermediate monitor" between bookshelf monitors (4412,4312) and large format monitor(4430).
I prefer the horn from 4430 ( the horn from 4425 is ever so little harsch) , but the dimensions 4425 (406x635x311mm) to compare
to smaller monitor( 4312 or 4412) with better sound!
The Mc Intosh power amp is ideal for 4425 !
I think perhaps the new compression driver +horn from 4425mk2 and 4428 better.

Look at the company Precide from Switzerland. The Leader Hans Dürrenmatt had developed the AMT`s with Oskar Heil. They are going on to produce this Speakers there...

I added a Fostex T90A to my 4425's to get that top end sparkle/extension that the 4425's seem to lack for me. Also didn't know there was an Mkii version. Maybe i'll open mine up one of these days and see which one ive got
