    hi all
im foaming a set of speakers for a friend
i do all my speakers with ordinary pva(wood working glue)
and i never had a problem but i dont use my speakers outside
he`s speakers only go outside when he throws a party
any idea`s on what glue to use would be appriciated
this is only my 8th speaker ive done and 3 of them have just been a solder job

look for woodoworkers resin glue, as it is reasonably waterproof.

However, the harder way: for truly waterproof glue :
Use a blend of the yellow resin glue (~80-85%) and a WB phenolic resin (such is sold by Schenectady International www.siigroup.com in Schenectady NY). You'll want to make sure you add dry parts on dry parts

ie 80% dry parts resin glue
    20% dry parts phenolic resin

    as an example:
500 gms of 50% solids resin glue is 250 dry parts glue
    250/80=3.125 gm/ 1 phr phenolic resin;

so you add 3.125 x 20= or 62.50 dry parts

    (at 50% solids this becomes)

    62.50/.50= 125 gms wet

    so 500 gms wet glue
+ 125 gms wet phenolic resin

It'll make the glue so water proof, that a 1 week drop in water will damage the wood but not the bond.

Ask for a sample of a water based phenolic resin for evaluation, tell them you're making a water based wood glue to use outside; and it needs to be bullett proof. They'll set you up.

Rather than go to all that trouble, just use a rubber gasket cement such as 3M 847. It's already waterproof. You can find it at an Industrial Supplier such as Grainger....in the U.S., anyway.
