    New Word

We could say we are audio archeologists, as many of us spend countless hours excavating through e-bay and other avenues to uncover that special part to complete the reconstruction of our favorite Lansing classic. Then painfully refurbish and reassemble the parts into working examples of the best there was to offer at that time. Once complete these are displayed, auditioned, and the information painstakingly catalogued for all the future JBL fans to reference.

Many of us could term ourselves Audio cult members as we continue to stay true to the undying beliefs of James B., that we can all make a better sound by changing the "Sum of the Parts". After which we gather in the forum and rally round spreading the good word to all whom will listen about our illustrious leader James B. Lansing. Very often we find an open minded unsuspecting individual which will listen, as we share the gospel that the spirit lives on, and while we can not see it, it is confirmed to be heard by the ears of all who follow the teachings of the master.

How about JBL Heads as we are all very much involved in the obsession and will not sleep until we have acquired the best audio equipment Mr. Lansing has to offer.

Transient Scientists sounds like we are a bunch of homeless over educated college professors looking for the cure which will benefit all mankind.

This new addition to the dictionary is truly a quandary in which there is no easy answer.!!

We must make sure it accurately portrays the essence of the spirit and the obsession / addiction we all have.

How about we make a list of the best names provided and take a vote.

I vote for something like **Lansing Audio Restorers and Vintage Audio Enthusiasts **

    ( LARVAE for Short )

    Just my two cents.

New word leading to new category!?

Thank you all for your thoughts on this, they are all great!
After having read them all several times, I would personally go with the "pro/home audio concept and when I read the word "Profidelity" I instantly knew that this was it, it simply blew me away.

So, I would definitely put my vote down for "Profidelity", as suggested by "P.Warner"!
It absolutely nails it IMO. It is instantly understood, it's neutral and doesn't exclude the use of mixed brands and it doesnt say if the parts have to be new or old and before all, it doesnt exclude DIY.
The distinction between High fidelity and Pro fidelity should also be quite obvious.

I even like it to the point, that I would suggest we replace the the word "General" with "Profidelity", as heading for this particular forum.

What do you all say, am I right or am I right?

Thanks for your suggestions, they are all great, but some of them exclude newer stuff, or other brands altogether.

Audio masterpiece, might work though IMO, but I think there is not enough visible distinction from, let's say HiFi.

So, my personal vote has to remain with "P.Warners" "Profidelity" for now.

    More suggestions?

No offence, but what is your problem?

Why should you think that this isn't worth spending any time on?

If you have any creative thoughts on the subject, I'd appreciate if you could share them with us, if not I'd say it would be better if you stay silent or write in those threads you consider worthy.

Hmm...this thread certainly got my attention. Maybe I am stuck in a time warp but in the '60's, Hi-Fi was about recreation of the original event as faithfully as possible. This credo is still a personal goal and to me, JBL's simply reproduce sound more accurately than anything else I personally have heard.

If I have to design and build my own electronics and speaker systems, buy pro components or buy audiophile stuff (I love my Linn LP-12! ) to achieve the goal, that's what I'll do. It doesn't matter to me where the stuff comes from.

Admittedly, I am not crazy about the Audiophile label either
    My two cents........

Let's hope so, but I'm not so sure, since Lancer wrote something about crack earlier, which he removed before I had a chance to reply and ask what he meant.

If it indeed was a joke, I expect him to say so himself.

I absolutely and totally agree with you. My own sound-system is a mishmash of things coming from both HiFi and PA/Pro, both new and vintage.

After having heard a JBL speaker for the first time in the early seventies, I have NEVER EVER looked back!!!
