    Help needed in SD

OK Guys, Back in SD for the summer, went down to the bar and lo-and-behold the DJ over the winter blew up some componants in our big system including two JBL 2226G's and one 2119H from the SR series. . How the f__k do you blow up speakers is beyond me. When a speaker is "blown out" what part of the speaker actually gets blown? There is probably an obvious answer to this, but this is part of my learning curve. Please be patient. Are these units salvagable? Do I simply buy new replacements? What do I do with them? Is there anybody on this forum that does repairs? Would appreciate any and all comments. I have a 60 day time window to get these back up and running. Thank you all in advance!

You should be able to get them reconed. Orange County has both kits listed on their page

You might take a look at these:

I have no affiliation with the seller, but he seems to have a very high rating.

Hello John, Mine are the 2226G, So, I would guess based on the OHM values that they are not interchangable, correct?

Correct... Technically, they could physically be installed just fine, but you'd then have 16 ohm versions instead of 4 ohm versions, which would change *everything* - crossovers wouldn't work right, amplifier interaction way different, etc.

Unless you put in a real low maximum bid, you may want to cancel with the seller, just so you don't end up with something you can't use - I'm sure he'd understand if you told him why.

While not completely necessary, I would suggest watching someone else the first time. Mainly, you need something to generate a steady low frequency tone to center everything while the glue dries. Others may add more detailed info...

Looks like I'll be spending that "80% extra to go first class" as I have no equipment, experience or time for that matter to get these babies repaired. $146 each at Orange County Speaker plus shipping!
