    N46

Does anyone have the schematic for the N46 crossover from the L46 speaker? I will be building one from scratch.

    Thanks

... so basically, would it be acceptable to use a normal inductor, and series a resistor to get a total resistance of 7.5 ohms? ie, use a typical inductor with a .5 ohm DCR, and a 7 ohm resistor?

That circuit leg is a notch filter, right? If so, I would think, intuitively, that this should work?

    Regards,
    Gordon.

Have recieved the needed 1.0 coil from jbl. Now need to know the port size to build the cabinet. Can't find even a picture that shows the port. Anybody know or have a suggestion? 117H is the woofer. The internal box size is very close to 1.1 cu ft.

    "117H is the woofer"
You sure about that? I don't see a 117H anywhere. Could it be a 116H? That is in the sister 4301B, and I'll measure that port for you - hang on...

OK, I'm back. The port is:
    2-in diameter (straight)
5-1/4-in long from face of baffle

    4301B pic, for reference

    Hey, jandregg...

Here's a picture, with scale (Imperial), of the baffle of the 4301B, showing the placement of the port.

Let me know if you need anything else from this sister to the L46.

Great picture. The jbl home website gives 117h as the woofer, and the woofer I have says 117H stamped on it. I believe it was also used in the L86, though the box size is larger in the L86. It has a white face. There was an earlier post on L46 by Kenny Brandt that gave the woofer as 117H also.

Ah HA! And in that, you are right!

I was all-the-while looking right at the brochure showing the white faced woofer with the convex dust cover, but was more focussed on the port question and cabinet size! Doh!

Regardless, it is interesting that the 117H is not mentioned in the "TRansducer Replacement List nor in the Thiele-Small Parameters - that is where I really got confused!
