The spider is in correctly. What your pictures suggest to me is that I need to put the spider on from the bottom of the voice coil so that the excess spider material folds down toward the coil. I going to try that right now. I'll be back.

    Earl, you were right.

I flipped the spider over and I now have the look illustrated in those two pictures. The relief of the former above the spider looks right also. If you all agree, I can begin to glue it up. That won't happen tonight however. I have another frame I need to clean and then glue them both up at the same time. I'm ready for a glass of wine. Thoughts on whether it's ready?

I missed your most recent post.

Yes, I think you're ready to glue-up ( assuming things are also jiving with the GordonW info that I linked you to ).

PS: I also have here a generic 4" VC spider here ( from at least 20 years ago ) that has a very distinct collar ( it's un-used & the collar is not caused by the direction of application causing loose excess to bunchup ).

You are correct again. Once I flipped the spider, the material naturally fell into place. Many, many thanks. The plan is to glue them up as 2234s sans dust cap, put them in a 4507 cabinet (5 cu. ft.) and test them before I decide to add the mass ring. I likely will add mass because they're going to work as subs for the 4612s. In essence, a B380 under them...biamped with electronic crossover.

    Hi Rob,

If you still own it, could you please publish the static weight ( including dust-cap ) of your JBL 129H recone kit ( I'll assume that you have an applicable kitchen scale since you've dabbled in AquaPlas painting in the past ).

FYI, having the static weight will help those others who now rely on under-weight aftermarket recone kits ( and their own attempts to bring them up to spec by adding eBay-available AquaPlas ).

    Thanks <> EarlK

    Adding the mass ring

Do I use an epoxy or a lesser adhesive?

2-Part Epoxy seems a reasonable choice for a part that might impact the pole piece ( inadvertently, of course ).

Agree you have to run them really hard for it to happen and once you hear it's likely you won't let it happen again.

Common sense pointed me that way, but all y'all are more qualified to weigh in. Thank you.
