    jbl 2225J testing, some differences noted, advice needed

    Hi, recently i bought 4 JBL 2225J, meant to be ultimately reconed as 2235hi am testing them with latest DATS tool tham i am used to.Among the 4 woofers there is one that clearly test different.results differs from original specsi get 4.64 as qms (oe is 2.50)i get 31hz fs (original is 40hz)and 9.49ft3 VAS (supposed to be 6)all 4 moving mass are within the 105g, i get consistent resultsi aso notice that the "different" one has different binding posts, ie square plastic instead of round, all metal.they are probably beaten to death who knows but i would like to get your opinion the the differenences noted.they all have original cones with jbl markings, they really dont seems to be reconed. just very old and stinky.thanks.

    The odd one might have been reconed with a 2205 kit? In view of measured Fs, and Vas number (with tolerance). I haven't checked the other(s).

    Hello patallen;

    Is the odd ball suspension noticeably softer? If the spider and surround are whooped and the cone weight is the same the Fs drop is possibly an increase in suspension compliance.

    Does it Ohm like the others?

    Barry.
    If we knew what the hell we were doing, we wouldn't call it research would we.

    yeah it feels a bit softer than the others so this might explain it. about 14ohm DCR like others, thanks,
