Finally a dedicated room!

I built these Be Array 1400 clones 13 years ago in 2010! My how time flies!! After all this time I finally got them in their own room. Been cleaning house and ended up with an empty basement room. They had always shared my HT set-up room. It wasn't optimal but it worked.

I always had some issues with the low end but that has now changed. The low end is great the only issue now is a little slap echo so I need to add some dampening as always with audio a work in progress. One thing about this hobby is it never ends! Every time you make a change there is always a new challenge!

Empty rooms are nice, I am going through my gear stash and getting rid of things. Surprised I have a stash, never thought that would happen. But like you said, with this hobby, it never ends.

Added some more absorption Tee Shirts on hangers. It helped!

Slap Echo sounds like reverb. Just go into your bathroom and clap can't miss it. It sounds fine even with it so at some point I will have to get back.

Diffusion sounds like a good idea to break things up.

In my Media Room I have a minor amount of slap echo between the screen and the wall behind the couch. The plan is to add some art to that blank area and I will work with that to solve the acoustics issue.

When listening to music and the screen is up, the bookcases between the the left and right front speakers act as diffusors and there is no noticeable slap echo, however when the screen is down the reflective vinyl screen and the wall behind my head create two reflective parallel surfaces and there is a very slightly perceptible slap echo. Actually I only notice it when I laugh loudly or clap. The soundtrack of films typically masks the problem, but I am sure it is there and the room will be even better once it is gone.

My plan is to install an assortment of small to medium framed pieces of art on the wall behind the couch to act as a diffuser. Experimentally this has worked well... now I need to find the aesthetically acceptable collection of artwork.

No echo, least not from my listening position. I had originally thought of updating things, but then I started learning a very little bit about room acoustics and have decided all this old stuff has secretly been my friend all this time. So it'll all stay, least the format will.
