To that end an active crossover network is your Transporter on your journey. Ideally it should allow you to do exactly what you need to do without being a mind field of knobs and switches. It should be straight forward to set up & allow you to evolve your loudspeaker system as you progress through your journey of discovery. In comparison a passive network is like set in stone. It’s a barrier to change. A good active crossover network will allow you to progress through your journey in a systematic and controlled manner. It will allow you make small but precise changes that were never before possible with a passive network. It may offer options for different diaphragms, compression drivers and horns. You might want to introduce a sub to augment the bass or a uhf driver to add more details in the top end. Your system is now in many ways similar to the JBL 67000.

But it’s yours and you made it happen.

This is not an idea. It’s who you are.

And don’t forget it’s supposed to be fun.
