Dividing Network Help: n2400, 2500, 2600

Hello,

Can someone tell me the difference between the n2400, 2500, and 2600?
Many people have said the model number is just the crossover frequency, however the JBL Dividing Network Instruction Manual (Pub.OM22-3) shows that the n2400 crosses at 2500 Hz.
From a listening perspective, are the later crossovers (2500, 2600) improved over the 2400? Better sound, drivers more dialed in, etc.?
I am using the standard 030 configuration with d130 and 075, but only 1 of my 2 cabinets is currently filled.

A few other random thoughts swirling in my head:
1) I read a thread where a forum user drilled the rivets from his 2400 and recapped it. A fellow audiophile said collectors hate this, and sometimes the dividing networks can be potted in tar. Any opinions here? I didn't see any tar in the above-mentioned thread.
2) If you change out the discrete components inside the dividing network, is it easy to transform a 2400 into a 2500 or a 2400 into a 2600?
3) Any other tips when sourcing the d130, 075, or dividing networks from a seller, other than making sure they work and test appropriately on a multimeter?

I can't help you that much, but whatever crossover you buy will probably need to be rebuilt anyway. If you are worried about modifying a collectible crossover you can always make one from scratch. There's a good post here about rebuilding a N2400 crossover, and I doubt if you will notice a difference between 2400Hz and 2600Hz.

I have two sets of N2400 crossovers, one has the back riveted on, and the other is screwed on. They don't have any tar in either.

The N2400 and N2600 are identical except the 2600 is switchable between 16 and 32 ohms.

2500, no idea.

These might help. N2400 crosses at 3.2kHz and N2600 crosses at 2.5kHz. Not sure if there's an N2500?
