Question Grill material for 4408 speakers

One more question: I found a vendor on eBay who has the JBL blue material, but the listing says it’s for the 43 series speakers.

I thought about using this material, but I used to own 4312A speakers a long time ago and I thought the weave was a lot tighter than what I have on the 4408 speakers. With the 4408, I can see the drivers with the grilles on and I don’t remember being able to see them on my 4312. Looking at the images of the material within their listing it appears they are correct about being for the 43 series.

If that is the case, does anyone have a good source for the material that would match the color and weave of the 4408 speaker?

    Thanks, Patrick

    Patrick,

I recently redid my L55 grilles with that blue cloth from the gentleman on eBay (he also has an account on this site) and I have original blue grilles on my 4412s. Tonight, I'll take a picture side by side to compare.

    Ryan,

That would be perfect since you have the same series speakers and the material I was considering!

    Thanks, Patrick

Ok here it is. I looked back at my cloth purchase, and this is the cloth marketed on ebay under the title "JBL Dark Blue Fabric Org Factory Weave & Color Guaranteed Satisfaction". Observation is that compared to the 4412 fabric, the color is close but the hue is slightly different, and the stitch is more dense. (The cloth is very high quality though, it is very nice, and easy to work with.) Please let me know if you would like to see more pictures - with the weekend, I can take them in neutral lighting as opposed to under a light bulb for a more honest comparison.

    Thanks for the pictures!

Are you able to see the drivers of your 4412's with the grilles on like I'm able to with my 4408's?

How about your the L-55's with the new material you bought?

Sorry, you had asked that before. Yes, I can see the drivers of my 4412s with the grilles on, but no, I cannot see the drivers of my L55s through the material from eBay. I think the pictures capture the difference:

    Ryan,

Great pictures, they answer all my questions.

Unless someone chimes in with an exact match for the color and weave, I'll place an order for this cloth.

Thanks for all your help and time!
