Turning a Synthesis Two Center on its side?

    Hi All,

I picked up 3 Synthesis Two center speakers at an auction. I am thinking of trying them Left-Center-Right in a home theater set up. I don't think I want to go high enough with the screen to get the center speaker under it. I am thinking of modifying the center speaker by turning the horn 90 degrees and moving it up so I can put the speaker on its side. Does this make sense? Any problems I am overlooking? Presumably I would also move one of the ports so they are both on the new bottom?

    Thanks for any thoughts!

( If I were you ), I would simply try-out the center in the orientation that you show in this picture. Give it a while.

You may find the resulting vertical horn orientation to your liking ( it might offer; increased localization / with decreased horizontal spaciousness ) .

OTOH, if you decide to rebuild this to a lower profile center, tight-pack those 6.5" woofers together ( sides almost touching ) & have the horn located directly above .
Whether ( or not ) the crossover needs to be reworked/redesigned ( after your re-arrangement of the 3 components ), will be a matter of luck .

PS; here's another variant. (Click the pic to download the tech sheet!)
