    Crossover for: 2405h & 2440 & E-145

    Hey,


    I´m nearly finished with building the bass-enclosure and know I´m thinking about the crossovers.

    As I haven´t much experience building crossovers, I`d like to stick to established designs.
    Are there any original crossovers shematics that would suit my system ?

    My setup:
    2405h
    2440 on 2397 horn
    E-145 in 7,5 cubic feet bassreflex

    I´d like to bi-amp my system.
    So one crossover for the E-145(probably just a coil!?) and one for the high-mid....
    I don´t want any level controls, probably just a fix resistor for the midrange to compensate the higher efficieny over the tweeter.

    This is 2015 and you will probably find less expensive to get a digital crossover. That will allow you to better tailor the sound to you taste. Building a quality analog crossover is expensive and requires back and forth.

    If biamping, and you wanted to keep it simple, you -could- run the
    2397/2440 down to 800Hz-1KHz using an 24 dB/oct electronic
    crossover (or 18dB/oct and a cap), let the 2397 run free on up,
    and bring the 2405 in with a capacitor to come in ~9+KHz.

    ... or 100 other ways to do it.

    And yes, you'll likely need to pad the horn drivers down.

    Probably want to keep these away from side walls (or cut reflections down)
    as the 15" driver isn't going to match the dispersion of the 2397 near
    the crossover region.

    You may further need to EQ the whole thing and figure out the best
    component values to use for the pads and high pass capacitor, perhaps
    adding an inductor to the HF section to clean up the MF/HF overlap
    if it bothers you.

    It's going to be a bit of work and 'back and forth' regardless, but
    I hope you have fun in the process

    I know a DSP is a modern and "easy" way... But I was thinking about a passive crossover.

    Is there such a passiv crossover, that suits the 2440 on the 2397 horn with the 2405h on top and the E-145 at the bottom ?

    No experience building crossovers on a non-existing configuration. There is no "establish design" for your non-stock configuration. The most logical direction is indeed to use a digital crossover to make some testing. Then if you are satisfied with the results, then try applying them with a passive crossover.

    Sure, you can use any software that will calculate a basic crossover, But it doesn't mean it will sound good. There is more than crossing frequencies in a crossover.

    I know I´ve a none existing set-up.
    But maybe a combination of the 3106 and 3110 could suit my speakers.

    It would look like this:

    2405:
    1,5mF + 0,3mH for Highpass 8khz

    2440:9mF + 2,14mH for Highpass 800hz
    0,3mH + 1,5mF for Lowpass 8khz

    E-145:3,33mH +12mF for 800hz Lowpass

    I´m not shure about the 800hz Highpass and Lowpass, anyone has an idea ?
