I'm not sure if this is politically correct but here I go I went to Japan with some friends, including the former Stereophile reviewer Marcus Sauer (who has since sadly passed). There we picked up some wonderful Blue Note and Columbia pressings and brought them home. Hey, I even found an SP10 Mk3 for peanuts.

Anyway, I bought a Teac DA3000 studio recorder back in Europe that allowed archiving at DSD 512 (I decided 128 was enough). I bought a second hand SME 30/12a and proceeded to archive all of my vinyl at DSD128 to USB.It's less than $1k and it's my my source now - as good as a SME30/12a...

When finished, I sold the SME for a $5,000 profit and the vinyl for $4,000.

So I now have all of my vinyl stored in ridiculously high res (2 times SACD) along with PCM converted versions that I can play on my iPhone. All that as I made $9k profit I recorded them as side 1 and side 2 to authenticate the original album format. I can play the DSD originals using the TEAC - which has no moving parts. I could not be happier. The copies tell you the deck was special. I never had the money to keep it but for transfer, it also never left me with the question "what if"?

    nice story.

I'm slowly weeding out dupes , never listens .. I buy used for my son to sell on discogs. So before sending to him, I dub them off to minidisk .... makes pretty good copies. and if I do track separate recordings , the MD deck has a lot of editing functions.... ie: cut, delete, join ..etc.

Can now listen repeatedly w/o wearing out vinyl/stylus.

So strange how this new fascination with turntables and records is playing out. IKEA like wtf is with that?

    Odd,

Thanks for showing, haven't seen this TT before. Well, it looks sexy, but it appears to come with a cheap Audio Technica cartridge, low cost push controls on front, as well as a S shape tonearm, for $1,346.!! Can't believe this.

Must be quite fat margins on this thing, paying for the name... No thanks for me, i'll keep mine also Direct Drive, better made, better arm and cart, for a fraction of that cost... Regards,

    Richard
