Best woofer for L-45 Flair

I can have a pair of L-45 Flair with the LE14A, LE175DLH and 2405H.
Is the LE14A the best 15" choice for those days and for the given L-45 cabinet?

The L-45 Flair, like most JBLs of the era is simply a box, with it's original grille it was a pretty nifty looking box, but it is just a box. Maybe a better way to put it is: It is a blank canvas on which you can paint your masterpiece.

The S8 system is by far the most expensive and is the best system, the S7 is the next one down the line in both cost and performance. However if you are more interested in high sensitivity then the 001 or the 030 systems would be better.

Now, we have learned a bit since the L-45 Flair was originally offered. If I was going to go for a vintage/modern system, I would go with a LE14H-3 which will be quite happy with the Flair's 4.2 cu ft volume and an LE85 an HL91 and 077... the pro versions of the HF units will be less costly. You will need to build a custom network and tune the cabinet appropriately, but you will end up with a system that is the equal of the L300 with arguably better bass though with lower sensitivity and less max SPL capability.

With your collection of components, I would keep the 077s, either upgrade to the LE14H-3 or perhaps refoam your LE14As, but I would definitely upgrade to the 375 or the LE85 with the slant plate lenses and new custom networks.

Are measurements and comparisons of the old compression drivers with horns+lenses available?
Do you know why they used those horns with the low gradient function? The 2344 horns for example are the oppositional extreme...
I guess the old designs produce a lot of K2 harmonics. What do you think?

I like the L-45 Flair, because I like the vintage "old school" style.
I had to make too many modern commercial consumer products. Slim column speakers, home theater, Wi-Fi, Bose killers...
For my home I need the other side. Maybe you can understand my feeling and intention...

I have a pair of Beyma 15LX60 (old version) 15" woofers. In my opinion they have slightly better parameters than the 2226H and Usher 15HM Studio.
By the way, has someone tried the Beyma SM115K:

I love JBL, but some Beymas are really competitive. Their studio range reminds me of JBL products?!?

For the midrange a modern alternative would be the 2344 1,5" copy by P-Audio and the JBL 2447H. What do you think?
I measured this combination a few years ago and have been impressed.

The supertweeter can be a true ribbon or a 2405H.
Both will make a lot of distortion.-- ;-)
