Altec Lansing 605a Duplex (for home listening music use)

Hi I'm James. I'm new to this forum community and I am a beginner to the concept of high quality sound production. I have a few questions related to the Altec Lansing 605a Duplex and I will appreciate your ability to help me answer these questions.

I recently inherited a pair of 605a's from my grandparents basement. Each 605a had its own cabinet, but upon a small flood in the basement I discarded the damaged cabinets and salvaged the speakers only. I did not find any crossovers in the cabinets either. So, I have the (2) 605a speakers only. I have tested each driver in each speaker and all (4) are functional (i.e. producing sound). They look in good shape, but since they may have been submerged in water for a couple days - I think they should be refurbished.
I am interested building a home stereo system that can get loud for parties, but mostly use it for high quality music listening, and may be for small home-studio recording use also.

    So, time for the questions

    1) Where can I get the speakers refurbished/restored? And, what may be wrong with them in regards to being submerged under water?

    2) How much may it cost to completely refurbish both speakers?

    3) What is the average cash value for each speaker if I decide to sell these?

    4) I am willing to spend a few thousand $$$ on a high quality system. What are the advantages and disadvantages of a high-quality vintage audio system compared to a modern one?

    Thanks!
