    Help with ID......12" woofers

I picked up a pair of JBL 12" woofers yesterday.
There is no tag or label on the back, but they look exactly like the 126A's in this auction. The only differerence being mine have cloth accordian surrounds, not foam.
They have the same exact basket and the red JBL caps over the screws.
Can anyone tell me if they made the 126A's with the accordian surrounds, or what model might they be?
    Also, where were they used?

Nope, the 126A never had a pleated fabric surround. If it IS a 126A, it looks like somebody reconed the driver with the wrong kit (possibly a generic 123A kit), or replaced the foam surround with a fabric surround. Either way, the driver isn't suitable for its original installation... the driver specs will be WAY off (resonance, Q, Vas, etc) to work with the normal port tuning.

Actually, they may BE a pair of 123As. The 123A used that same exact basket (as opposed to the "thicker-armed" basket of the 128H and such). What color is the cone?

    Regards,
    Gordon.

Now that I have done some looking around, it does look like a 123A, but with black cones. I was informed by someone on a different site that the Nova 88 usede a 123A with black cones.
These don't appear to have ever been reconed. If they were reconed, someone did a fine job.

Yep, I saw the other discussion over on AK. The L88 Nova/ Cortina cones were more like a dark gray color, rather than black... if this is the case with these, I'd almost guarantee they are an original set of L88 drivers. None of the reconing kits have the gray Aquaplas... OEM or generic.

    Regards,
    Gordon.

If I am understanding what the Aquaplas is, these have the Aquaplas and the cones appear to be black. I am still stumped because I looked up the L88's on Ebay and they all seem to have the white cones like the L100's.
Is Aquaplas the kind of texture coating type stuff on the front of the cones?
I guess I should post some pics of them.

    BINGO!!!
I think you got it. They must have changed to the white in the later models. That pair is the only one I have seen listed on Ebay with the black cones and they look like they may be a little older than the others I saw.

    Thanks!
