    help on the Altec Lansing Model 15's

    ive got a chance to buy these in the morning...problem is , that i have no experience with any altec's. pleeas give me your thoughts and opinions on this speaker

    If you don't like them, you can easily sell the compression drivers.

    I have heard them but never compared them A/B to anything. They are punchy and have a dynamic, live presentation. The sound is tilted upward towards bright. The highs are very open and there is little sense of boxiness. I think the high xover to the 12" woofer will give some issues in terms of mid range clarity and focus.

    Unless the cabinets are beaters they have some useful functionality still. The woofer and compression drivers can be reconditioned at Great Plains. So, good party speaker but maybe not the preference for critical listening.

    As Grumpy mentions, the high driver may have some value as it is the same used in the Model 19.
