    Wooden horn /2435hpl

Here is my latest attempt @ a wooden horn. I wasn't happy with the size of the Yuichi A290 I built last year, so I scaled things down to fit the 1.5" driver. The finished dimensions are 17.5"x5.8"x9.75". These should be much easier to incorporate into a cabinet design than it's big brother.
I found a source of Tiger Wood 4"x4" material that machines well and is easy on the pocketbook. I used Ipe for the fins because of the contrasting color. Now, if they test out alright I can make use of my 2435HPL drivers.

I like using a water based polyurethane. Hardly any smell and easy cleanup.

    Hello Derry

These are 3/4 scale version of an 2" exponential horn designed by Yuichi Arai. I redrew the plans in AutoCad , did a 75% scale reduction and used the printed drawings as patterns.

    Very Nice Woody !

BTW, Did you post the correct dimensions above ? or did you mean to write 8.5" ? ( I'm assuming that is height ) .

I can't speak for Woody, buy having built Yuichi 290s 5.8"H sounds about right for a 3/4 scale.

    Nice horns!

Wooden horns are a beautiful way to enjoy music with.

And I think they sound better than metal or plastic/figerglass.

How did this work out for you Woody ?

Did you ever capture the FR for this horn/driver combo ? ( Admittedly, I forget what your testing capacities actually are )

    <> cheers

I have no testing experience except for listening. I was going to have a friend test a couple of my horns but he is heading to Asia on business. Maybe when he returns.
