Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, The Big Beat, 1960, Blue Note US, BST 84029

Listen to track A2 "Sakeena's vision" with a powerful and melodious drum solo (big beat). Sakeena was Blakey's 2 year-old daughter.
What has become of Sakeena in the last 56 years?
Notice the writing error on blue label: "The Big Heat".
The sound of this 1971 reissue is big heat and big beat.

Julie Driscoll ran the Yardbirds Fan Club as well as being secretary to Giorgio Gomelsky. In 1965 she joined fellow unknowns Rod Stewart, John Baldry and Brian Auger to form the Steampacket. (Notice on back cover)
Good dynamics on this English pressing.

This one is a reissue of the 70ies. But it sounds good. Modal jazz. Remember: Jimi Hendrix did the same with his left handed guitar some years on. McCoy Tyner piano. Elvin Jones drums. Booker Little and Freddie Hubbard tp.
    Sheets of sound.

John Coltrane Quartet, Ballads, 1963, Jasmine England, Jas 37

For me, this one is one of the most beautiful John Coltrane music you can get on vinyl. Listen to the ingenious drumming of Elvin Jones.
Listen to track B4, the Jimmy Van Heusen song "Nancy". No fillers. Great.

    Haindling, Muh, 1988, Polydor Germany, 837 810-1

Haindling is Hans-Jürgen Buchner. Recorded at CAN-Studio by Rene Tinner.
Buchner is some kind of magician of modern Bavarian music. Very witty and intelligent. This one comes straight from his brain and heart.
Listen to track A5 "Auf jeden Fall": "Und ich trink ein Gläschen Wein, das macht lustig und nicht dick".
    Forget the Münchner Oktoberfest!

That is a great song, I first heard the Steppenwolf cover which made me want to hear more of Hoyt Axton's music.
