Replace the surround on my LE15A and 2121

anyone know where to replace the surround of my LE15A and 2121?/ should I order parts and DIY??

Usually how much will it cost to have someone replaced, with parts and labour??BTW Are they worth to replace??, I am new to JBL Vintage.

    Regards

As long as you do not have two left hands DIY is possible.

Do a search for "refoam" or "resurround"

Best source for refoam kits is Rick Cobb in Florida.

Do a search or PM me for his email adress.

I ordered the surround kit fr Rick and should be arrive in few days, I do some search on the net, not sure why people replace the surround need to remove the dust cap (dome) and CENTER it again, anyone know if I need to do the same for my LE15A and 2121???

I check the local store if I provide the kit , they will charge me CAD260 for labour, (USD180) to refoam it CORRECTLY. what they really do and should I let the PORFESSIONAL do it??

    Thanks

    Tom

    Hey, Tom...

Unless there's some damage to the dust cover, I don't imagine you need remove that. Just carefully remove the old surround and glue - this can take some work to get it off the frame / basket - and fit the replacement into position and glue, as per the Step-by-step, making sure the cone is centered.

You can use MEK - an addictive inhalant - that faciliates removing the glue, but you need be in a well ventilated work area. Careful...
