Altec 510's.... Opinions on performance

Howdy Folks,

Can anyone weigh in on their experience with a set of these early 80's model Altec 510's? Power handling (RMS) as 150 W nominal; 300 watt maximum. Carbon fiber woofers...

Any comments would be appreciated one way or the other....

Operative comment would be - do YOU like how they sound -
pretty sure they are after the golden years of Altec, from the look of it ...
parts will be hard to come by - any reason WHY they intrigue you?

Hey Heather....yes I have a little set of the Model 83's from the same era.....it is a 3 way bookshelf speaker(6" LF) and they really sound amazing...believe it or not, they compare to the same era JBL L series(I have L86, 96, 112) IMHO.....therefore I deduced that their higher end and larger sets like the 501, 505 and 510's must really deliver quality sound....and these Altecs can be had at a budget price....

So I am curious to hear what folks who have heard them actually think about them.....I'll probably buy a pair and test drive them.... you know we can never have too many speakers to clutter up things ! Shaan
