Altec 816 speaker? 3156?

When I was reading the sheets of the Altec 816 cabs, I saw the folloing text:



What do they mean with a specialized application? I have in my 816's two 3156 speakers. They have mutch power handling and they do good in those cabs. But I was wondering what they mean with specialized applications....

Maybe someone here does know what it means.

I don't know anything about the ER or 3000 series of drivers. I think the ER series were actually EV's, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I recently scored two 816 VI's, and they came with 515 16G HP's. I couldn't find any literature on a high powered version of the 16G, but Bill H. over at GPA didn't seem to think it was anything unusual....:dont-know
