    ACE damping material

KEF is tauting a damping material called ACE (Acoustical Compliance Enhancement). It is supposed to increase the internal volume -- as seen by the woofer -- by a factor of 1.5 to 3.

There is a description of the ACE damping material here:
    http://www.kef.com/technology/pdfs/acewp.pdf

Does anybody know if similar damping material is available from other sources?

You can buy activated carbon from a pet store, we used to use it in the fish tank filters.
http://www.carbonactivatedcorp.com/ These guys have it all....including the superior coconut shell based version.

The other thing is to maintain a low level of humidity, perhaps a waterproof sealed cabinet assembled in low humidity?

    Activated carbon

Thanks for the reference. I gather the problem is to find an acoustically transparent bag in which to contain the activated carbon.

Has anybody on this forum tried to use activated carbon in a loudspeaker?

Put it in a bass port and you could freshen the air in a room ... for awhile.

Apparently it's found continued use in an actual product "filled" with activated charcoal:

Does make one wonder how it's kept from the driver... mesh/screen? Seems like
charcoal dust would have the potential to still make a mess of things unless the voice
    coil paths are sealed off.
