    S3100's are home!

Picked up a near mint pair of S3100's today. Haven't got a chance to hook them up yet, hopefully later tonight. I will try to post some pics.

Hey, thanks Giskard and Ian. I can tell I will have my work cut out for me dialing them in. I have a "crap" room with extremely limited placement options. In our new house, the room will be 11' x 20' with a 10' ceiling. I'm thinking corner placement with some toe-in will be the ticket in that room? I guess time will tell, for now I am enjoying them. I have to consider they have been sitting in the boxes for over four years and may need some time to loosen' up, especially the woofers. I'm driving them with a B&K Reference 4420 amp, 225 watts into 8 ohms. I can see and hear that they like POWER!

Andy, the boxes are dated 03/20/96.

Some of you Bay Area guys may know the seller. His name is Greg and he had a business called Soundplan in Novato up until a few years ago. It was one if those appointment only gigs. Great guy to talk to and deal with!

Hey Beer, I paid him his asking price on Audiogon plus the Paypal fee. The only other expense was gas for the four hour round trip. For what they are getting for L-65's, L-300's and the like, I think it was a great deal!

That is your new 2008 Toy.

I recall I heard something similar (model) at Titanium Domes in LA last year.

I am sure you will enjoy them. Super cool amp rig too.

You want get much sleep this weekend!

    Congratulations, very nice!

I'm looking forward to hear a comparison with those other 2-ways, the 4430's you have (or once had?).

    Cheers

    Beautiful !

    Oznob,

you really have landed on your feet with that deal. I have never heard them, but I have heard nothing but GREAT things about them.

Just what the DR ordered for the new home. Pretty high on the WAF scale too.

    Quite a handsome speaker.

    Hi Ian,

Ti has the S2600's with the same compression driver and horn, smaller cabinet with the ME120 HS 12" woofer. I nearly bought one of the two pair of 2600's offered by the seller but opted for the 3100. Hey, bigger is better, right? Oh, I think sleep is over-rated!
