    surround goop on dustcap ?

I just bought a Mint pair of pristine 2213H and the speakers dust caps have a very lite cover of speaker surround goop to make them look better. The amount is so light that it is not very sticky to the touch. Dustcaps are shinny black instead of dull.

Due to damping action or other, is goop affecting the sound by changing the frequency response (supposed in high range mainly) ?

Truthfully?? A Nubian is a goat,is a milking goat made known for it's type of nipples. Now,beins' I'm not a man or a man/woman,I do have some knowledge as to their being known as extra large and extra long nipples elsewhere. And that came from my ex-husband who travelled ALOT when he was young and just a welder. Now he owns the company...AND it is international,SO....I think I might believe him. And we are still the best of friends. Honest, with an 18 year old daughter in a private college, etc.
But I know for sure about the goats. The rest is comparitively speaking, I believe.

4310s have a real crossover in them, as I recall, so it doesn't matter.

I'd say there's likely some benefit to damping the HF from the woofer in the other models that just let it run full range. From what measurements I've done, the high end rolloff is not all that graceful.

If it bugs you, have new domes installed, or clean those off with an appropriate solvent.

Confirm driver polarity when swapping 2213H into 4310s. I forget if 123As are positive or negative, and I'd have to test to be sure myself....

    just an idea

M E K also known as dry cleaning fluid. It should not mess up the paper as long as you are gentle.
