How different are JBL 250's vs. JBL 250TIs?

Just wondering the overall difference, if any between the earlier 250 and the later 250TI speakers.

By overall, I am looking for -- is one bass, mid, high, better than the other?

Is the titanium tweeter and the upgrade to the x-over a much needed improvement to the 250 line?

It only peaked my interest because of the recent auction of 250s on right now.

Here is the link and pictures for future reference.

Yes, and I did read those before I posted this thread.

However, all the given details are about the cabinet and the technical stuff. Nothing given regarding overall sound, etc.

    Thank you.

If you devote some time searching the archives, you will eventually find a few threads that talk about the evolution of my L250's into 250Ti's. I started with L250's and didn't touch them for a good year. I then swapped the upper mids for 104H's. After some time I swapped the xovers for Giskard's custom units and put the 044Tis in at the same time.

Each change made the speaker smoother and dimished my ability to hear the individual drivers. The xover upgrade was the largest improvement (by far) and really highlighed how important the network is on a 4-way speaker.

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but in the absence of an xover upgrade, do you think the L250 would benefit with a change from the LE5-11 and 044-1 to the 104H and 044Ti? I have the upgrade transducers but not an xover and I bet Giskard couldn't be coersed into manfacturing me one. Or has anybody got some spare N250Ti XO's to sell?

On that point I would personally trash the 104 and 044 and put some nice Performance series drivers in there. Ooops sorry wrong thread.

    Good advice, I think.

Hopefully we'll have some first hand info soon.

AYE AYE SIR!!!!, Next week I'll contact all the C-cup or bigger women I know and see if they'll help. I'll have to do some research on the "mammary techniques of speaker design" Not exactly sure how to use this "advanced theory" but I'm willing to learn. ( not too sure what my lady will think of this either - oh well, it's all in the name of science)

I won't...I'll post my thoughts about the project in the 250 box thread soon so as not to continue to take this thread WAYYYYY off topic.

BTW Storm....the 250Ti should be better..period. If you want better, invest in CC'ed crossovers...but bottom-line enjoy what you have....it's really all about the music
