Hello everyone,
I just recently purchased a pair of L46 loudspeakers and I am going to have to remove the woofers so that I can replace them with some new ones that I have ordered. The foam surrounds are in poor shape, looks like they are disintegrating. So my question is when I remove the screws that hold the woofers in place is there anything else I need to know, such as are the woofers also glued in place or....? Thanks for any help in advance.

Well since I seem to be doing things incorrectly let me ask you one more quick question. When I take the old woofers out of the cabinet, and replace them with the new ones, what should I do with them. I mean are they usable to somebody, or should I just pitch them into the landfill? recone w/ aftermarket parts (not JBL) is quoted at $85 at one shop...
Those are the replacement woofers that I ordered. I don't have any intention of selling the old ones. I think I will check around this forum and see if anyone that could repair them might have a need for them. Thanks Grumpy. R/Mark

You could refoam them if that is strictly all that's wrong with them. The foam is generally available and can make a nice project to learn on. If you check the thread about woofer removal of a L86 woofer that was referred above, you can see that it's not a really difficult process to refoam them. That would increase their value.

I was very successful in removing the woofer, extremely easy. I took my time and was very careful not to cause any further damage. Thank you for all of the help. he does it for little or no profit. so he builds good karma.
