I Know,
"Then I am decided.
511b, BMS 4550, 2235, N801-8a"
but things change.
A friend got his DIY 3-ways running, consisting of K140s into Heil horns/EV drivers, topped with 077's. The K140's sound really good to me. Detailed and tight with lots of impact. So I found some K145's on ebay and am now an owner.
I plan on using a Model 19ish crossover into the 511b/BMS 4550.
My friend used his K140's in PA boxes he had at 5.5ft and trial and errored his ports to 51Hz and it sounds very good. They sound flat and not boomy at all. They are shown in yellow. Blue are K145's in 4.5ft boxes tuned to 44Hz. White is a K145 in a 6ft box tuned to 45Hz.
What happens to the sound of these boxes as I make them larger? Do they lose detail in the upper frequencies and muddy the lower frequencies?
The Everest was around 8ft? When I try to tune that big a box I get a huge hump. Did they use compensation or other tricks in the LF part of the crossover to flatten that speakers curve?
