Diy multicell and onken.

Hi i,m newbie in this forum!
My name is Hans-Olof and i live in Sweden.
This is my first experience with Jbl and Altec stuff.
I have made it from 3,2mm board and cote it with spray tar.
The driver is Altec 416 8a and jbl/meyer 2441.
Filter is 6db at 800hz. 1,5mh for 416 and 12,6uf for 416.

The setup is Wadia cd and dac.
Diy pre amp with 417 tubes and Lundahl 1674 transformers.
Power amp is diy 4 6550/cannel in ul mode.
There is no lack of power

Lundahl 1674 transformers..... very nice

Looks like you like 1st order filters for the crossover network.

Have you made an acoustic response test measurement of the loudspeaker yet?

Thank you for the warm welcome.
The filter is a simpel firs attempttips and tricks are welcome.
I have not make any measurement i have no eqipment.
Filter for the horn is 12,6uf then 20 ohm and 3 ohm paralell for impedans.
The sound is huge and dynamic,bass is thight down to 35-37hz.

This multicell made of board is a prototype.
Now i have practice machine and glue tecnic.
Next multi will be 1505 B in 4mm plywood.

hey hans olof-

a 1.5mH on a 416 is probably rolling off at around 2k if it's an 8 ohm... i use a 414 8b, and to do 800hz 1st order (around 12.5 ohms), i'd need at LEAST 2.5mH (if it's an 8 ohm- probably 4.5mH-ish as a 16) -- i don't have the exact specs on a 416- but id venture a guess someone round here does!

not certain as to the 2441-- but you may be overshooting there as well- because your driver is probably seeing a very different load than it's nominal impedance at crossover frequency!

After a month of listening i can say,i´m home.
i´m in too horn
Onken 416 8a is the best bass i have ever heard.And the multicells just fill the room with music.No horn beam at all,it is soft and dynamic at the same time.If i build 3 more i can watch a movie
Now i have to get rid of the piezo and buy me a pair of 075`s.

You're gonna ruin it all with those.

There's probably no UHF driver more beamy than the bullet.

Buy BMS 4540NDs, and make mini-multicells or something for them, instead.
