Exclamation How to Remove Lancer 44 Grill?

    Gents,

I recently acquired a pair of JBL Lancer 44 speakers and they sound fantastic. I am curious to look at the drivers to see their condition, but don't know how the grills come off and don't want to risk breaking them.

They are the woven orangeish grills with the aluminum strips on the sides. Does anyone know the proper procedure to pull them off?

Thanks for any and all help.

    Frank

Yes. With the speaker oriented vertically, there is a metal spring clip in the center of the top and bottom, about 3/4" down (and up) from the edge.

The clips are securedly mounted to the cabinet face and fit into holes on the back of the grille, holding it in place via friction.

Gently prying between the grille and the cabinet in the area of the clip should release the grille straight forward.

Move it a little at the top, then the bottom, repeat....
