    Questions on L212 with sub

I put an ad on Craigslist in Chicago about wanting JBL loose speakers and got a call from a guy who has some loose tweeters and mentioned that he has a set of L212's with the sub and will take $300.00 for the set.

He mentioned that you need two amps to run these,is that correct? Can I use a regular receiver to run them? Thanks!

The L212 is a 3 piece system, the "satellite" Speakers, and the Sub cube that has its own 75watt bass amp.
But some get molested ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...em=18010361630

I think I saw Giskard say at one point that the 75 watt amp isn't enough for the sub.

Yeah - people are so darned helpful sometimes.
I find it best to quietly go about my deals and not talk about them here until I actually have them in hand ...

I used that 75w amp for 25 years, for music only its alright. But if you're going to use the L212s for HT a more powerful sub is needed. After my 75w amp went down, I installed a 150w plate amp, it fried the sub's voice coil.

Any stereo receiver, amp, up to 220w will work for the L212s. I built 3 and bought 2 more L212s and had a 7 channel all L212 HT, using a Parasound 220wpc amp to drive 5 of them, and the HT receiver to drive the other two. Built two SUB1500s to go with them. All total, 2900w system.
