i dont listen to my gear, i just tinker with it.

i cant hear my gear over the noise of my pc fan, which needs to be on to operate my squeezebox. if i crank it to drown out the pc fan, my brother gets pissed through the paper thin walls.

so basically i can listen my system when he goes on vacation, but seeing as we both go to visit my folks during the holidays, this leaves about a week a year.

Two things you can do -

    1. Start kicking your brother's ass on a regular basis

    2. Become a headphone junkie

    (1) Buy JBL speakers
    (2) Buy Mcintosh, and HH Scott tube gear and dump computer crap
    (3) Kill brother

    Just sayin

How about finding a remote location for the PC stuff & bringing the signals back to the room you listen in? Control via (reasonably) quieter laptop on the same network? Drop some "sleep aid" into your brother's Gatorade?

Good luck. I, too, tinker with my drum set & guitars more than play with them, unfortunately. They'll be "remotely located" as soon as possible, too.

    Hi guys,

i have given thought to running the shuttle pc outside my bedroom door in the hallway and just getting extension cords for the monitor, mouse and keyboard. that is solution 1, and not expensive in these days of used pc gear on epay.

there is no solution to the brother issue. I bought (him) a hdtv that keeps him downstairs in the living room. Its too bad, because i think i have a true wall seperating my bedroom from the neighbors living room, as opposed to the paper thin wall dividing our bedroom. Family next door has yet to complain about my stereo which is right up against their wall.

    Family problems?

Find your brother a sexy little minx that likes to fornicate AT HER PLACE and he will never come home to bother you and your listening pleasure again.

My GF is not interested in loud music at all. I encouraged her to go back to school, and she enrolled in an MBA program. Now she's gone two nights a week and for several hours on the weekend for "team meetings" (no smart comments, please).

I can rock out two nights a week, and for several hours on the weekend.

Get your brother to take a class or something.

Modify PC to a water-cooled system. NO FANS, NO NOISE.

Buy a GLOCK 9 mm. Keep it handy.
Pour some soda pop into the PC power supply while it is powered on.
    Problem solved.

Hey, can you imagine JBL headphones?! How about a 375 mounted on either side of a headband?

I'm hopin' for JBL ear buds for an iPud . . .
