And the wave of chanting swells forward from the rear of the forum:
"Yuri, Yuri, YURI!"
Hi.
I would stay clear of the Crown XLS series.
I have owned a Crown XTi-1000, and for the price its awesome. I would recommend to try one out before you decide.
Im not familiar with your other alternatives.
Best regards
Infact the Crown was indeed something I was considering due to the attractrive price.
Any thoughts on Soundtech?
I have one of the Crown XLS 602. It is a fine amp "IF" it is located where the fan noise won't bother you. A lot of the guys at AVS Forum think highly of them for H/T use.
I drive a JBL Pro Sound Cab with a 2241, as a LFE in bridged mode. Lots of punch.
4406, 4412A, L100, L100t3 (3 pair), L1, L7, 4645C, 4660A, 4695B, SR4735 and various DIY JBL Pro loaded systems.
Soundtech is just OK.
I'd stay away from Alesis... cheap construction, IME.
Of the choices mentioned, the PSS is probably the better one.
Though shipping may be impractical (California USA), you might want to check the Carvin amps... either the DCM or HD series. They're quite well built (and easily repairable- ie, parts are easily sourced, unlike many Chinese-built amps) for the price. Pretty good bottom end whomp too, and a surprisingly smooth top end. I've got one each, of the older F-series (which the DCM series replaced), the HD series and the DCM series, and they've all done great by me.

Though, they DO show a representative in the UK... might be worth contacting these folks:
