    2242 replace 2245

    Greetings from sunny Barbados,

Hey folks, I am sorry to say, I am in the paradise island of Barbados, and phuhh... I walk around looking at JBL gear... Can you belive that???

I have a damaged 2245H at home, and are planning on reconing it. But in a store here, I cam over a very good buy on a 2242H. I know it is not the same woofer of course, but will it be a ok replacement in my B460?
The pice of a brand new 2242 is not far away from what it cost to recone the good old 2245H I have at home.

    What do you think?

2242H Fs is 35Hz vs 20Hz for 2245H and F3 is 54Hz in 4ft3 box vs 32Hz in 10ft3. Doesn't appear to work. But it takes more power!

There are some newly refoamed 2245H's on ebay right now and the price is quite good but there is still the matter of shipping to Norway I would guess. If you buy the drivers in Barbados, they will count against your luggage allowance by weight so you should be sure you have the space and weight figured in. Excess baggage, at least for United, usually is $50 to $100 per bag up to 70 lbs.

Do a quick search or I'll try to get the links up quickly.

Don't know if the above seller will sell outside of US though. Price is nice, even has me thinking about them.....

Here's one more but higher priced...

OK, so it does not sound like the right thing to do then. I dont know the datas of any of the drivers, but thought that since they both are 18 inchers ment for low frequencies, it would not be too much of a difference which one I use. But I guess I was wrong.
It was just a very tempting thing, getting a brand new (duty free) woofer for just a little more than what it cost to recone my old one.
    Thanks for answers.
