From your pics, it does look as though your lead wires have been repaired.
Just above the aluminum diaphram and where the leads take a bend is where they often break or fry.

I think you are confusing the old style leads with the late version that GPA uses. The new style enter's the frame at the bottom end and connects to the terminal. This terminal was not intended to be soldered to, but looks like the owner did without heat-sinking the terminal and the transfer of some of this heat melted off the insulation on the lead. I see no solder repair, but perhaps a glob of insulation from the heat exposure. Now get back to listening!!!
