    Hi,

Sometimes I see replicas of the metal nameplates listed on the Japanese Yahoo Auctions site (try below link). I checked and its not listed currently, but they do turn up regularly. When they do, they're always priced Buy It Now (I forget how much, sorry, but at US standards could be a bit pricey).

I can certainly give you a heads up notice when I see one up for sale. Give me a PM if you're interested.

Stuff they don't have drops off the parts list with the annual update. Usually.

Give them a call. You may be surprised at what they've held on the shelf 20 years for you....

That's the opposite of my experience... a few years back I was thrilled to see crossover components and foilcals etc. for the pair of 4355s I was working on... I phoned in to order them and not one of the parts on the "updated" list was valid. However I am sure they have some 20 year old parts sitting on the shelf that none of us are looking for.

That said, I definitely second Zilch's recommendation to give 'em a call... in a few minutes you'll know for sure if they do have what you are looking for.

    Nameplates

I called Pro Parts months ago to inquire about the nameplates listed on their Misc Parts List. They were not available then and unless a miracle has happened, they're likely not available now. I would suggest that their parts list is badly outdated and in need of review.

    Sometimes you get lucky.

I got beautiful NOS grilles for my 4401's from JBL Pro parts last year.

They are not available, but it was interesting to find out. Got up early so I could make time to call before work (my shift is odd). 8:01 California time, my first call to JBL! I'm new at this, so I'm excited. A nice lady answers and says the guys upstairs are not in yet, give it five or ten minutes and call back. 8:09 I call back and all I can do is leave a message, they are too busy. Well, Monday AM is a rough time for service everywhere.

They can't get back to me and I go to work, get buried myself and can't call until...their lunch. OK, I call back after their lunch, on my lunch. No, the part is not available and she sounds like she has already fielded a number of inquiries and knows all about the damn nameplate and I can tell she is being very professional and patient to not phrase it that way. So how many of us called today about 60176-16? I gave the part number and she said, "Oh, the nameplate. No, it's not available." I could barely keep a straight face.

Well, a stupid boring story to you guys, but an amusing adventure in the end for me. I may feel just a little more JBL after today, I think.

If enough people called, she may have put it on the "DAMN, we gotta make MORE of these!" list.

    [Not likely, alas...]
