Yes, the triumvirate of threads makes for careful choosing, but I'll cover the room elements here. I may not get around to the calibration stuff until later (you'll read why) but I'll post that in the "something BIG" thread. :dont-know

Grumpy arrived shortly after Chris and made himself very useful.

Here he is helping to snap the screen together.

Here's Chris working the other side. I sort of promised to spare him an appearance on the site.

Grumpy also helped by removing the backing on the heavy duty double-sided tape used to mount the diffusers while I installed the four brackets Chris brought. Here's a nice shot from his camera showing me putting the next to last one in place.

Looks very nice. We're all boiling with envy.

Do you have the dimensions of the front three satellites?

His shot across the back wall shows an unusual perspective. It works really well for its intended purpose. You don't see a wall like that every day.

The screen is up! It's attached at the bottom, but we've done a temporary bit at the top. Now that it's in place, I can build a small frame to attach it to the ceiling.

The Stewart Filmscreen Luxus Screenwall is 110" on the diagonal (54x96) and has the Microperf feature to allow the center to be behind the screen. The wrinkles at the bottom will fall out; in fact, they're almost gone now.

It's time to move the chairs back into position and set up all the gear. So why am I staring at my camera?

Before I move on to the other thread (JBL Synthesis--something BIG is coming) to describe the calibration, I'll post a few more of Grumpy's images of the set up.

I actually started enclosing the back side of the equipment closet, so the drywall's up and the door framing is in place. Grumpy got a shot.

Our final Grumpy shots show the left channel main next to the screen and in front of the 4" absorber, the S1S-EX in all its glory, and an exit shot of the room in natural light. That shot shows more how the room looks in reality than anything I've been able to post.

You sure did a great job of bringing the room together, it looks fantastic. Looks like a perfect place to enjoy those new speakers.

Everything really does look just fantastic.

You need to make sure Grumpy keeps coming over and taking pictures. These are really sharp shots!

I don't want to have to re-drywall the room in a year.

Also, Chris told me early on that on-wall mounting the S4Ai units (I'm assuming that's what you're referring to as T4A?) was an option that even JBL Synthesis® has used on a number of occasions with great success. Since the S4Ai is his design, I believe him without hesitation.

So I'm very comfortable with it, especially in conjunction with following his directions on diffuser placement.
I would totally agree with that statement. My experience is there is very little difference between having speakers wall-mounted or flush.
Flush is really an IB situation, but the on-wall isn't much different.

I've often wondered how those S4Ai units sound, having looked at them many times on the Synthesis site. The fact that they're a combo of Ti and AL drivers, same as the front speakers, would suggest a very good timbre match.

Don't think I've ever seen difussers like those.

Yeah, the timbre match is uncanny.

I drove all the way to freakin' Sherman Oaks to pick those diffusers up. They're unusual looking, but very effective (and very cost effective).

I think they look cool. Can they be painted without affecting their performance?
