Great intro! I was born too late. Too bad today's consumer can't experience that without going well out of the way and making an appointment. Your thread regarding your recent BB experience comes to...
Once you get to a certain level of performance, the margin between the good and the "very good" gets slim. I thought the boutique caps would make a huge difference in a recent upgrade but it provided...
Happy BirthDay, Ian. Cheers.
Thank you, but frankly, I think you just nailed it and it has me thinking, too. You don't need an upgrade (invite?) to turn on the switches; You need a willingness.
My system may not be where I...
Oldmics doesn't have a 'house'- it's a museum!
I'm kind of new to this hobby so there are many great speakers I've yet to experience (including a lot of JBL's) but I was lucky enough to pick up a pair of cosmetically challenged Vandersteen Model...
I have a feeling your maid is in that room somewhere but she can't find her way out!
'Bee,
Are you sure it isn't just the L100's? :p
Seriously, I hooked a pair up to a Naka (stasis) integrated and it's a "pretty good" combo. Of course, this is in a bedroom set up and the room...
Well, you certainly know more about this than I do, Ian. I too would prefer to buy something done right the first time. Unfortunately, it seems those products are priced WAY out of my price range. If...
Remember- this mod (like most good DAC's- Benchmark, etc) can function as your pre, too. You can even alter the output gain! Run that juice straight into your PASS LAB beauty. Ahh....
What are...

You can get just the "basic" truth mod for around $2500 (including the unit of course)....
'..if a speaker has a great midrange, that's what grabs me on the first listen, and that was the case with the JBL 880'
'further down in frequency is where the L880 really strutted its stuff'

At higher volume levels- the ringing of the 811B is real and audible. Granted, they were never intended for higher volume level playing in the first place.
The ringing is not audible by itself...
The 066 is a textured weave. They don't have raised "nubs" or "dots"- but more of a subtle woven fabric (which they are). They look legit to me.
Thanks for the laughs! Best post I've read in several weeks! I think Giskard may have found a new avatar...with permission of course.
- kitty is feeling better now, I presume?
cool!
I have a great pic of those Westlakes all loaded up on his trailer- maybe I should share it...:hmm:
Oh, Ken- did 'talent tell you what his latest score was? :hyp:
so, let me get this straight
you need to strip:
- compression drivers (?)
- mantaray horns (?)
- a cabinet (?) and
- throat adapters (?)
All of these things?
2235 likes 5 cu ft and 2 ports at 4" ID and 11" in length for an ideal 30Hz-28Hz tuning. Do what you must to work your way into this- those 35's will sound like completely different when you give...
His feedback would indicate he was once selling some sort of beauty product(s)...(?). Gotta be another joke in there somewhere.
Don't beat yourself up over it; Just think: your donor lighter helped keep many other concert goers aflame when the ballads play- especially the long cheesy ones.
Well, the proverbial cat is outta the bag now. I was gonnna start up my fake foilcal operation again (j/k) but I see there is much more to be made by cranking out fake Zippo lighters. Whoda thunk it?...
...you didn't need to answer that crap!! :p ...but now that you did- I feel we all know you a little better. :)
Man, that's a bad break in a bad spot. I bet you have a PM right now with...
Hey Greg,
Perhaps you should re-write that list of stuff in an easy to read format and post it in our forum marketplace section. Be sure to include all your pricing. I'm sure somebody may want at...
If the lead is broken , and that is it's only issue- it's well worth the effort to salvage it any way you can. I eventually tore mine down and salvaged what I thought was a "bad" tweeter- turns out...
