2418H-1 vs 2425/26?
On the 338800-001(JRX/PRX) waveguide over a 2104H midrange?Considering a somewhat odd build, a 3 way with the above M/HF combo. Haven't decided on the low end yet, but quite possibly a pair of B&C 8BG51s per side. I have the (4)woofers, (2)mids, (1)2418h-1 and (1)2425HS, so I would still need to buy the (2)waveguides and (1)HF driver.Which of the 2 HFs would be a better fit? System will be active.

This thread of Guido's displays some important response differences between the 2416H ( a kissin cousin to the 2426 ) and the 2418H.

While both drivers have their had their respective responses affected by the 2342's diffraction slot ( giving both, some ripple ) // one can still see that the 2418h has more HF available in the overall scheme of things .
I think both drivers are now considered obsolete // so you'll be buying used and therefore taking your chances on replacement parts ( if needed ).
I'd probably buy the 2418H if in your shoes since it was obviously a driver that was tweaked for better HF response ( at the expense of response below 1K - no doubt ).

Thanks, Earl. I do wonder what difference the newer waveguide would make as compared to that response on the 2342. I'll probably just go for whatever driver I find cheaper and give it a go. This'll end up just a garage/workshop set of speakers, so don't need ultimate fidelity.
