Hello
the Yamaha 4002 was produced in the late 1980's and has long since been discountinued. I remember hearing a PA system that used them and thought they sounded very loose on the low end. But a 400 watt amp on that system was way too small for what it was trying to do. I do know some people like the sound of Yamaha amps in general for home use. In pro use they were said not to hold up over the long haul. The CE2000 is still a current model and is also a 400 watt amp into 8 ohms. Between the two I would go with the Crown. The Crown does have a cooling fan at low volumes that my be an issue.
400 watts per 18 may be a little on low side for power if you really plan to be rocking out.

Hello
The Crown K2 is well regaurded for a amp to use for low end. The power rating of the K2 at 500 watts per channel at 8 ohms is not really much difference than the CE2000 at 400 watts. the K2 however has a completely differnet type of output stage that works very well with low frequency loads and handeling extremes of impeadance swings from the speaker load. It also has no cooling fan and if you read specs it has a 3000 damping factor. For full range use and mid and highs some people prefer different amps over the K2.

Hello
My live sound PA system is powered with Crown MA3600vz amps and the QSC PL2 series. In the large configuration the mains are 12,000 watts all tri amped. The monitors are all bi-amped QSC powered and depending on the number of mixes it is about 6000 watts.
If you want to look to pro type of power amps for your system QSC offers many very good sounding models. Others to look at would be Chevin, Lab Gruppen, Camco/Ashly (the new Ashly power amps are now Camco on the inside)
My home system amp is a 20 plus year old Hafler DH200 I built from a kit.
Find a Hafler and use it for mids and highs you won't be disappointed.

I just replaced a CE 1000 with a K-1 for the bottom of my bi-amp system. The CE series is great for the price, but cannot compare to the K's. A big CE issue for me was the fan-I hated the noise!

On the CE series of Crown amps. the CE 1000 & 2000 models are for lack of a better word "conventional" design power amps. The CE4000 is what some people refer to as what would be the "K3" it uses the same design concept as the K series but higher power.

I also did not care for the CE1000,2000's. But I as well use 2 K2's for LF and they work very well. I did compare them to my Proceed HPA2's and the HPA's had a tad bit more on the bottom end (not very much) but ran out of gas when you wanted to get with it. So I stuck with the K's for sub duty. Besides the HPA2's are really pretty good for full-range duty anyhow;)
