POWER TOOL SUGGESTIONS

I suggest we make a sticky thread for power tool suggestions.
This will help the cabinet makers among us to see some peer-reviewed tools before they make the purchasing decision.

Two items I just purchased:

Excalibur 40 inch sliding crosscut table for my table saw:

This one lets me make the BIG crosscuts with high accuracy.

MicroFence Circle cutting jig for my Porter-Cable router (it works on many other routers)

This one lets me make router cuts and circle cuts with micrometer adjustment. I don't know how I tolerated other circle cutting jigs...

Oh, yes-yes. Temptation. That would really work for me and my anxieties about square cuts and the price of lumber. I would have to sell a car though- to buy the dang thing AND have room in the garage. Then I would have no excuse not to construct the BIG box speakers to fill up my living space.

Jasper audio circle cutters are the best for cutting speaker holes and cheap too. I hae a 60 inch table on my ryobi that only cost me 99.99 so I can make big cuts too. Problem is large pieces weigh too much and I end up using a circular saw anyway. I generally make cuts up to 34 inches, not much larger.

For full sheet cuts I use a Sawtrax 10' wide by 64" crosscut panel saw. It is way easier to handle full sheets on this than a table saw for me.

Othewise I use a 52" Unifence & 3HP Unisaw

Next up is a Jet 1 1/2 hp shaper.

That panel saw looks really interesting for cutting sheet materials.
How accurate and reproducible are the cuts? Is it good enough to do the "finish grade cuts" or do you use it to make the rough cuts on the 4' x 8' sheet and then finish them on that nice UNISAW in your link?

Being basically LAZY, I'd like something to do it all...;)

I have it adjusted to about 1/64". But if I need to get the best cut, I cut it big and use the Unisaw.:D

Planing to post some information regarding building a rotary table also I would like to post some information regarding my home made magnetizer.

There is no suitable forum for tools/tool suggestions (could also be home made handy tools) and it could be a benefit to establish a new forum for the purpose: handy/power tool Forum (a "HT-Forum" f.ex.) :D
Or is it an overshoot to even think of that? :blah:

- I wouldn't mind seeing a dedicated Tools & Building Forum .

- IMO, "HT" as a useful moniker label is a no-go , since to most , it means " Home Theatre " .

- Maybe " T&B " will work as short-hand for this .
