Hello,
This is my first post on this great site! I hoping that maybe someone has already tried this for a project.

I am currently using a pair of 4412A's for mains on my HT setup and want to build a center channel to match. I have a 035TIA and a 104H-2 and am looking for a 116H. The speaker baffle layout will be the same as the newer S38. I figure that I can use the same crossover circuit as the 4412's for the tweet and mid. I'm not sure what mods I would have to do to the woofer portion if any as it's just a 2nd order network. Has any tried something like this?

Thanks

I am needing to do the same thing, I am using L36's for HT, but matching a center channel is nearly impossible.

Think I'm just going to get another L36/

I always think MTM for DIY center channel, or, in this case, WT/MW.

Look to Synthesis and Project Array centers....

You won't need the 104H if you went with two 115H woofers. These were used in the L20T and match perfectly with the 035. Since there would be two woofers you could run the 035 with little or no resistor network although I would use an Lpad to adjust the tweeter (to get it just right)
Look at the schematics for the L20T, L20T3, and 4406. Use the search feature on the forum to find the diagrams.

The 115H is a great speaker and would be wonderfull as a MTM center channel.

:) Well, I have two 115h-1 woofers that should be here soon. I also picked up a 4410LR xover, l-pad panel/vent and input cup for $6.00 :applaud: off of eBay. I should be able to use the tweeter and mid section without modification, the woofer circuit will have to see as I'm not sure if the 115h-1 is 4 or 8 ohms. I would load them into WINLSD or Unibox if I had the specs but they're not listed in the JBL T/S parameter list. I'm hoping they're 8 ohms so I can wire them in parallel. I still would prefer to use the 104h-2 so the timbre will match the 4412LR. That's really what I'm trying to do with this speaker. Plus, you get much better off axis response being able to cross the woofers lower than you could with a MTM laying on it's side. It's going to be a tight fit with the 035tia being so large and trying to keep the baffle size narrow with the 104h-2 right under it. What I do need is the port length and area of a 4406 or a L20t to tune the vent on 441LR plate. If anyone could provide those dimensions you would make me a happy camper. :D Hopefully the hole on the 4406 is the same size as the 4410LR and all I have to do is cut it down a little.
Anyway, I'm going to mount the vent plate, ( or as JBL calls it, the escutcheon) on the back of the cab.

Vexingly enough, the 115H-1 is effectively SIX ohms. Not 4 or 8...

For a HT center, I'd recommend wiring the 115H-1s in SERIES, to make 12 ohms. No HT receiver is going to have a problem with a 12 ohm load, and it'll still probably be PLENTY loud enough.

In fact, I've DONE an MTM center channel, using two 115H-1s wired in series, an 035Ti, and a modified L20T crossover. The only mod that's required, is to DOUBLE the inductor value and HALVE the capacitor value, in the WOOFER CIRCUIT ONLY of the crossover (ie, the lowpass section). SPL matches up OK... in fact, the resultant FR plot on LMS/LEAP looked BETTER than the original L20 plot!

Regards,
Gordon.

The xover arrived to today. The funky green on the faceplate in picture is a protective film, everthing is like new Violet L-pads etc.

On your MTM how large did you make the vent? Do you have an L20t that you could measure the vent? Or better yet a I would like to find out what the vent area and length of a 4406 is.

The vent on the 4410LR escutcheon is 4" x 2.125" with a radius of 1.0625 x 6" long. The area is (1.0625*1.0625*3.14) + (1.875*2.125) = 7.528 sq" or about a 3.09" circle. This is exactly the same size as the vent on my 4412LR is interestingly enough. Also I'm assuming you just doubled up on the enclosure volume of a L20t right?
