What are the differences in performance between the classic Community BRH90 type horn and the JBL 2360 bi-radial horn? While the BRH90 has a horizontal slot and curved flares on the top and bottom of the horn, the JBL has a vertical slot and curved flares on the sides. They both claim a 90 degree horizontal x 40 degree vertical pattern!
Any comments on how these two horns compare?
Thanks,
Tom

Flare.
The "radial" horns have straight sides where the "bi-radial" types are compound ( 2 or more angles ). Think of a wedge from a pie. If you look straight down from above it is easy to see.
In addition the 2360 ( and to some degree the flat front smaller model 2380 ) has compound flares in the vertical where the 2350 / BRH90 are just an exponential curve.
All have nominal 40 x 90 patterns but the power / frequency response is different and the "CD" horns ( constant directivity ) require a rising eq to maintain horizontal hf pattern.
The JBL cut sheets ( pro-notes and other engineering articles ) go into much more detail.
