EQ Calibration via Surround receivers?

:blink: When I heard about this feature... I got all excited... But I have not heard anyone real happy with this feature. Any Input, ideas, should I just forget about it?

This kinda falls into the "it's better than nothing" category, unless of course it makes things worse.

In normal rooms, whatever that is, it saves a lot of time and can do a reasonable job of setting some basic parameters. Of course, many home installations are far below average by default because of the way the room is built, the placement of the speakers for practical and aesthetic reasons, the furniture and finishes of major room components, etc. So getting to average is a big improvement over terrible or barely acceptable.

OTOH, all but the very best of these systems have built-in limitations that ignore things that can only be measured by intent or should I say knowledgeable intent.
